Periodic exhibition "From uprooting to the new homeland: The generations tell stories" in Hayati Ladia, is dedicated to the completion of 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
An event that constituted the most serious humanitarian crisis that the Greek state and Greek society had to face in their modern history, as millions of people were forced to move from their homes in a brutal way. The exhibition presents photographs and objects of the refugees from Asia Minor, who mostly settled in the "Settlement" of Proti. Human history comes alive through the memories of their descendants, who entrusted the Museum with their precious family heirlooms.
Vasiliki Ladia recorded the demographic data of the refugees from Asia Minor who settled in Proti Serres. In addition, he collected and recorded the oral testimonies of their descendants, helping to preserve their memory and laying the foundations for deeper historical research.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday 03 June 2022, at 20:00 pm in Proti. The main speaker of the evening will be the writer Dimosthenis Koslidis, a descendant of refugees, himself and Kalouda Lazarou.
The evening will close with music and songs from Asia Minor.
